I'm an 18 year old girl who babysits a 9 year old boy. I'm used to men hitting on me all the time probably because I'm the typical blue-eyed blonde with long straight hair, big breasts (34 D) long legs and I wear mini-skirts, or tight jeans as well sexy tops.

Men hitting on me is nothing new but a 9 year old doing all sorts of weird things when he's around me is shocking. This boy is always looking for a chance to touch my breasts or my butt. He tries to kiss me and makes sexual comments about my body. He has mentioned that sometimes he has an erection when he looks at me and he lets me know when this happens.

I always thought children didn't think about sex. Another little boy I babysat two years ago showed a similar behavior but he was less annoying and I thought he just had a platonic crush on me.

Is this normal? Am I too provocative for them? Is it my fault?

This kid is too young for this kind of behaviour. I think you need to have a word with his mother about his irregular behaviour, because it shows a precocious knowledge of sex, which can be an indicator that he may have been sexually abused at some time. Don't blame him or make him out to be the bad guy -- he might have serious problems and need help, and you could have encountered him at just the right time to help him.

When babysitting this kid, dress as dowdily as possible (grandma/librarian style) so you are not provoking his behaviour. Keep a diary of his behaviour, if possible. It's not your fault. He shouldn't react like that.

Yes, I agree, keep a diary of what he's done/said each time you babysit him. This is terrible behavior for a child that young, but it may not be completely his fault. The diary would be a good thing to present to somebody if he ever tells them that you have molested him.

that is sooo crazy...well what id do, especially since the child has threatened to tell his parents.. id record it or video tape it...now a days many parents take their childs side and you can get into a lot of trouble..so just to be on the safe side i think thats a good idea..

i live in a family with alot of boys so im used to it...plus i am a much wanted nanny in my area so i have watched several kids of different ages....some of it is normal but not to this extreme....always try to dress modest around him...but also say something to the parents for 2 reasons 1: they need to know about the threat and he needs to be punished talk to the parents about what would be appropriate if he does it again with you even though they will probably talk to him and punish him them selves...but another thing that screams out is him being molested himself which is the second reason to talk to the parents so they can talk to him and find out what is going on....even though he may just be being a boy which i have seen in my family.....

I would be very concerned about what's happening in this child's life. You can never jump to conclusions but everything you've just said smacks of sexual abuse to me.

You absolutely need to speak to his parents, document everything that's happened in writing and give it to them.

You also need to stop babysitting him. Never mind how you dress you need to keep away from this child. The fact that he has threatened to make allegations against you is enough for you to need to protect yourself by no longer having any contact alone with him.

If his parents are dismissive, a call to Children's Services is in order. His behaviour is not age or developmentally normal or appropriate, and whatever the cause, is a concern.

Please speak up to someone about this child ASAP, he is obviously going through some kind of problem. Hope that helps, good luck.

It's surprising how early in life children can react. I was very young (younger than him!) when these kind of feelings started and can only imagine that it's "biology" at work. Stimulation appears to be rather common in boys.

On the other hand, since he has made an actual threat, it would be in your best interests to step forward with this information as otherwise it may only lead to very adverse consequences: especially if your main mission was simply to babysit and earn some extra cash in the first place.
