Ladies (or indeed men) what are your views on epilators?

Ok waxing with tough hair is just pointless and shaving everyday is impractical, so my bf wants to buy me an epilator... do they really hurt that much? Or do the new style ones that say they don't hurt, lie?! What are your experiences/views on them? I don't want him to buy one for me then spend a few seconds screaming and the rest of my life hiding from it :oP

Thanks in advance you sexy + wonderful people!

yes they are painful..They use a wire to wrap around the hair and jerk it out. I gave the one I had away.It is painful and time consuming .It takes about 45 minutes of pulling to do both legs from bottom to top. The hair has to be long enough for the wires to grab, or it doesn't work . And forget the underarms and bikini line ! ARGGGGGGGG!

There used to be one called epilady and after a while it only had to be done every 2-3 weeks it worked great and it is kinda painful bout a 5 on a 1-10.

OUCH!!!!!!! I bought one that had an attachment that was supposed to help alleviate the pain. It didn't. It still hurt really bad and my legs were red after doing it. My bf thought that I had a reaction to something and got a rash. I bought it a year ago and I've only had the balls to use it twice. I wish I'd kept the $45 instead of buying it.

I think they hurt. Everybody's different, some people don't hurt, but I found it painful, and then, even worse, I would get ingrown hairs everywhere.

I love my electric razor! I use it after my shower as I watch tv.

My girlfriend uses one for the reasons you mentioned. She says it hurts the first time, because theres so much hair for it to pull, but after that it doesnt hurt really much at all since the hair is overall thinner. You should try one and see how you like it, keeping in mind that while it may hurt a lot at first, it wont always hurt that much.
